Coming in 2016, from the company who brought you Dulux
Every year about this time, Dulux, issue their predictions for our colour choices in the coming year.
We saw their presentations for 2016 at a briefing held at the McLaren motor centre in Woking, and when I could take my eyes off Jenson Button’s Formula 1 car there was some interesting news.
Besides the colours, the company are hard at work developing new paint finishes and paints that will do all sorts of interesting jobs around the home.
Did you know that paints are now becoming available which will use nano-particles to remove pollutants from the air? And Dulux say they expect to have another special paint on the market by the end of next year which will include small glass beads to provide thermal insulation? This new paint will be a few millimetres thick and has been specifically designed to go on the walls of older houses which are always very hard to insulate to modern standards.
As the Dulux representative at the presentation said, we’ve come a long way from the days when paints were damaging to health and the environment – they are now starting to be positively beneficial.
But you’re waiting to hear about the colour research and find out which shade has won the colour of the year award!
So without further ado, we can now announce that winner: Cherished Gold! Here’s how they see it fitting in:
Besides the single colour of the year is a whole palette of shades to complement it, and this is the 2016 selection:
To quote from Dulux: “For 2016 we see a muted and sophisticated palette which centres on soft mid tone shades. The overall feeling continues to be warm, but with even greater subtlety. Bright colours have moved away from primary to something more interesting. Think coral, not orange; ochre not yellow and midnight, not blue. This is a friendly palette but with a dark, mysterious side.”
You can see all of this in detail on the Dulux website.
And now that you are inspired, we hope you’ll be reaching for the phone to arrange a visit from GD Parvin Ltd – and there’s still time for some redecoration before Christmas!
All the best,
Geoff Parvin
